The Age of Leverage
Hey friends, happy Sunday!
The internet is incredible. At no time in history has an individual had as much leverage as today.
One person can feasibly leave an impact on the lives of millions, all from their house.
Gatekeepers are a thing of the past in most industries, with the only thing standing between you and success being your ability to consistently provide value to others through your creations.
Take Casey Neistat for example, he single-handedly built an audience of over 12 million subscribers on Youtube. During the time he was daily vlogging each video reached roughly the same number of people as the Wall Street Journals newspaper reached.
Each of them reaching roughly 2 million people every day. Casey by himself, the Wall Street Journal with over 7,000 employees.
The people who will thrive in the age of leverage are those who figure out how to make code / media work for them.
PS - I am super pumped and grateful about the opportunities we all have right now :)

The Story of Francis Ngannou is wild
(Thread)
Francis Ngannou comes from Cameroon, his family were extremely poor and he didn't have easy access to education. The story of how he went from digging sand mines at 10 years old to help support his family to becoming the UFC Heavyweight Champion is wild.

Screwdriver Clarity
(Article)
We all have a tendency to overcomplicate things. This short post from Seth Godin talks about picking the right tools and moving forward.
"It doesn’t have to be expensive, all-purpose or exactly the same as the others are using. It simply needs to do the job you need it to do better than any other alternative method."

Inside the mind of a master procrastinator
(Ted Talk)
I caught myself procrastinating earlier in the week and ended up re-watching writer Tim Urbans Ted Talk on procrastination (pretty meta).
This is one of my favourite Ted Talks and I'd highly recommend checking it out.

The Design of Everyday Things
(Book)
This book is a breath of fresh air. For so long I would question why certain things were designed so poorly [mainly those showers you find in AirBnB's that have no labels and 10 moving parts].
Design is at it's best when there are clear constraints and the designer creates an intuitive experience with a product or tool.

How to get started as a Freelance Web Designer
Currently being uploaded... will be live by Monday morning
When I first started as a web designer I wasted a lot of time on the wrong things. In this video I share what I'd focus on if I was starting out as a freelancer today.
You can check that video out here when it's live.

If you’re enjoying the Sunday Filter then I’d really appreciate if you could share it with a few friends. You can send them over here to sign up.
